Norway needs more power and more grid. But some of the most interesting answers may come from how we use the system we already have.
Nils Klippenberg leads a session on how new energy technology is making demand more flexible, buildings more responsive, heat more reusable and capacity easier to manage across sites and portfolios.
The question is how far smarter operation, storage, flexibility and better siting can take us before new grid becomes unavoidable.

Before we build more grid, can we use what we already have smarter?
As electrification, AI and data centres reshape the energy landscape, millions of buildings remain passive consumers. Nils Klippenberg explores how data, automation and intelligent control can turn them into active energy resources - shifting demand, freeing capacity and making real estate a vital part of a more resilient energy system.

The smartest megawatt is the one we don’t waste.
Buildings consume enormous amounts of power - and much of that energy ends up as heat. At the same time, Norwegian cities use huge amounts of electricity for heating precisely when the grid is under the greatest pressure.
Martin S. Lundby, CEO of Hafslund Celsio, shows how district heating and district cooling can connect the two.

The cheapest site far from the city isn't neccessarily the smartest site.
If we want to build sustainable infrastructure, location has to mean more than access to land and power. Through Skygard’s Ulven project next door from the summit, we look at a different principle: place digital infrastructure close to the buildings, district heating network and people that can use the energy.
It is more expensive and complicated. And perhaps smarter.

Not every data centre belongs in the same place.
Some loads benefit from vast northern sites with abundant power and land. Others may create more value close to cities, heat networks ad existing infrastructure.
